credit card consolidation question by malomi85: Does anyone know of a safe way to consolidate credit card bills without getting bad credit?
My friend doesn’t have a lot of money but has a lot of credit cards. I don’t know anything about how credit works or if I’m using the right words or if what I’m asking is possible ; I just want her to get all these bills off of her. I would help her pay but I don’t make a lot either.

Don’t even think about paying off her bills.

It is virtually impossible to get a consolidation loan nowadays to pay off all the credit cards and then just pay back that one (huge) loan.

She needs to first cut up all the cards and then sit down and make larger payments to bring the balances down.

It may take a couple of years of living within a very tight budget but it can be done.

That is the only way to get it done… and that means to learn to live within her means and for the next couple of years: To live way below her means to pay off the debt she amassed.

Stay away from credit card consolidation or credit repair companies… they can’t make it go away and usually just run off with your deposit money.
