bankruptcy consolidation question by Shopgirl: If I get sued for credit cards, will I be forced to declare bankruptcy?
I have several credit cards that are way overdue and I’m sure I will get sued soon. I am going to try to put them onto a program to pay them so that doesn’t happen, but there is one company who won’t do it if I have any lines of credit open. I have a loan with my ex boyfriend and his name is on it so I can’t of course go over on that one or it will screw his credit up. So basically I can do the program on all the cards except that one and i dont know what to do about that one… so if any of them sue me will i HAVE to do bankruptcy?
What do I do?!?

It depends on what kind of “program” you’re talking about.

I would advise against any of the “debt consolidation” plans, because there’s too many scam artists, and not enough results.

If you do in fact get sued, your wages will be garnished.

That means that up to 25% of your paycheck (after-taxes) will be withheld and given to the credit card company.
