debt tips question by What?: What is a good credit limit?
Your credit report says your low credit limit (on a secured card) is bringing down your credit score. Is there a general amount that is considered good? Could you just increase the amount on your card to get a credit boost?
It’s a secured card and you can increase the limit anytime by sending a cashier’s check to the bank. The question is: will a higher limit improve your score?

debt tips best answer:

Answer by Kelly
Depending on what the terms and conditions are for your credit card, generally you can get an increase in your credit limit after you’ve had the card for a while and you’ve been shown to be a reliable and consist cardholder (as in, you pay at least the minimum on your card every month).

help debt question by Anonymous: what does “writing off bad debt” mean?

help debt best answer:

Answer by John Cleveland
When a company “writes off bad debt” they are removing it from the balance sheet. In other words the I.O.U that they were holding from company “A” is now deemed worthless. When a company writes off bad debt, they incurr bad debt expense which reduces their profits (as any other expense) for the year. It is the same basic concept for personal debts, which the IRS will give you credit for subject to limitations.

help debt question by : what is ment by the term “the term time bared debt”?

help debt best answer:

Answer by King
I believe the term to which you are referring is “time barred debt.”

Time-barred debt is a term that describes a particular type of old, unpaid debt. Every state has a statute of limitations that limits how long a creditor can get a court judgment forcing payment. For credit card debt, states’ statutes set limits of three to 10 years. Debt older than that is “time-barred debt.”

Essentially it means that if a certain amount of time has passed and the money has not been collected, the creditor cannot sue you to collect if too much time has elapsed: He is barred from collecting the debt because he missed the statute of limitations.

debt relief question by : How should I handle my debt? Help!?
I would like to consolidate my debt the best i can but i just don’t know where/how to start or what to look for.
I would like to take out some sort of a loan to pay off all my creditors at the same time and just focus on paying off that loan afterword.

I currently owe:
-$ 2300 in car payments to Palmetto Bank
-$ 3800 in credit card debt to Palmetto Bank
-$ 4300 in credit card debt to TD Bank
-$ 1900 in store credit card debt to Amazon
–>Total debt: $ 12,300

I am currently paying only the minimum on all accounts and all of them are up to date and not delinquent. I have never missed a payment on any of these accounts.
They are all just about 22% APR except the car payment which is at 5.9%. I have excellent credit which is at 722 last I checked not long ago.

What is the best way to tackle this debt? I would like to write just one check each month at a fixed rate hopefully: not write out four checks going all over the place each month..

Any good advice is welcomed!

*I have received several debt relief pamphlets in the mail from several different companies I have never heard of, but I don’t trust any of these companies.
I feel that I can handle all this on my own but I just don’t know where to start or who to talk to.

Thanks!
-Dallas

Answer by Sam
First, pay the credit card debts. Start off with Palmetto. Then TD Bank.
Secondly, pay Amazon.
Finally, pay the car debt.
I don’t know how you let it go this far. I hope this helps
