I have 10 credit cards. They are all close to being maxed out. I am current on all my payments. I never pay late( one late payment in 2008 on one card). I only pay the minimum though. What are the “buzz-words” I need to use when I call to negotiate for a lower rate? What SHOULDN’T I say? Who should I ask to speak to? Supervisor? ANY advice helpful here as I am drowning in credit card debt. I do not want to file for BK. I do not want to hire a company to negotiate for me for an outrageous fee( I have been checking their fees). I do not to “consolidate” my debt. I do not want to “settle” my debt. ALL I WANT TO DO IS NEGOTIATE FOR A LOWER RATE ON THESE CARDS SO I CAN PAY THEM OFF AND GET OUT OF DEBT. THANK YOU!!

Not to burst your bubble, but you most likely WONT be able to get your rate lowered. The companies will look at your high balances and minimum payments. I know from experience. I only have 2 cards and neither are close to being maxed out and I never pay late BUT I only pay the minimum due. I was told that because of my minimum payment I cant get a lower rate. I was told that until I can lower my balances and pay more than the minimum, I wont get a lower rate. Be aware that one company can see ALL of your cards and any other debt you have. Good luckl!
